Java is object-oriented, a model based on organizing software around data or objects, rather than function and logic. As a developer, you focus on manipulating the objects, not the logic surrounding them, and once an object is known, you sort it into a class.
The benefit of OOP is the great reusability and efficiency it offers, though it’s more difficult to learn and use – especially for beginners. It can take years to master object-oriented programming to its full potential.

Going back to our trusty Stack Overflow survey, Go developers on average made $140,000 annually in the USA, and $74,000 globally – making Go the second highest paid language overall.
That’s $20,000 more per year than Java developers, who on average earned $120,000 in the US annually, and $50,000 globally.
Companies want applications and systems developed faster and more efficiently than ever before, and with Golang created to perform those functions, demand for Go programmers is through the roof – and with that demand comes high salaries.

Java vs Go: Which Is Best for Web Development? 🔗
Both Java and Go excel in back-end web development, but in different ways.
Java boasts amazing platform independence. With the JVM it can run on Linux, Windows, and OSX and build amazing web applications, without compiling into binary every single time.
It also has a large community that brings endless support, as well as tools and tech stacks that allow you to code complex servers in a stitch.
But, Java’s primary use has moved from back-end web development to back-end mobile development – so much so that Java is almost exclusively used by Google for Android apps.
Golang, however, was created with the intent of managing large-scale network servers and continues to do so. It has built-in support for HTTP/2 and brings flexibility, scalability, and simplicity to web development in a way that Java can’t.
You also don’t have to worry about using 3rd party web servers or libraries as there are enough tools you can build web servers using Golang itself, thanks to the Golang creators and community.

Java has brought some incredible tools to data science, like Hadoop, Hive, and Scala, and is a known preferred development stack for secure enterprise development. It’s used for cleaning, exporting, importing, and visualizing data, as well as deep learning and analysis.
And not to beat a dead horse, but if you’ve mastered Java, the ease of creating complex applications from scratch is unbeatable.
Golang can also be used for data science, with cutting edge concurrency and basic data science packages available. However, it hasn’t been widely adopted by the data science community. It also offers less flexibility and takes longer with exploratory analysis and machine learning techniques.

According to a round of Java vs Go benchmark tests, Go beat Java on almost every test thanks to its compact style and quick compilation time.
Java and Go both use a garbage collector and multithreading, tools that in practice should affect memory and performance.
Garbage collectors are automatic memory management tools, and multithreading is a CPU feature that allows multiple threads or instructions to be executed at once, making Java and Go concurrent languages.
Garbage collectors are famous for weighing down performance, however, Go’s compiler is newer and optimized, so even with the added feature, it doesn’t add nearly as much drag as it did to Java in the tests.
Multithreading doesn’t inherently eat up memory, but Java’s concurrency is dense and bulky compared to Go’s, and it takes an excessive amount of memory to craft and destroy Java threads. A server can only handle a small amount of Java threads, whereas it can handle thousands of threads in Golang.
In fact, one of Golang’s best features is its multithreading abilities. Its cutting-edge ‘goroutines’ provide a smooth application, and even allows you to check your code in binary to ensure its safety.
